Milestone Achieved: Sejingkat Bridge P7 Side-Span Closure

On 13 April 2026, the side-span of the P7 main girder on Sejingkat Bridge was successfully closed — a key milestone that lays a solid foundation for the upcoming full-bridge closure.

The Sejingkat Bridge is a 1.28 km cable-stayed crossing over the Sarawak River, forming part of the Kuching–Samarahan coastal corridor under Sarawak's Second Trunk Road Programme — a strategic investment to enhance regional connectivity and ease traffic congestion.

Engineering highlights: main span arrangement of 200m + 400m + 200m, deck width 25.6m, and a side-span closure segment of 10m executed using an underslung basket as the form traveller.

As the stay cable sub-contractor, OVM has delivered consistently across production, delivery, and on-site installation. Two features make this bridge technically distinctive: a fire-proof stay cable system for enhanced safety and long-term durability, and a hybrid saddle/non-saddle stay cable configuration on the same bridge — a tailored solution rarely deployed in the region.

Sejingkat Bridge is one of four cable-stayed bridges in Sarawak where OVM serves as stay cable sub-contractor — a meaningful vote of confidence in our team's technical capability and execution discipline in the Malaysian market.

Our appreciation to the project owner JKR Sarawak, main contractor, consultants, and all partners working alongside us on this critical piece of infrastructure for Sarawak. Onward to full-bridge closure!
